Hearts of Oak thrash Bechem United to top table

HeartsAccra Hearts of Oak recorded their third win in the Ghana Premier League, when they thrashed Bechem United 3-1 in Match Week Four of the competition, at the Accra Sports Stadium, on Sunday.

Hearts scored first in the 36th minute through Samuel Yeboah, when he connected Isaac Mensah’s cross which crawled into the net beating keeper Ernest Adu.

This was after Cosmos Dauda and Yeboah had missed two glorious chances, whilst Abdenego Tetteh of Bechem United also had his shot hit the crossbar to deny his side a goal.

Hearts held on to the lead till the close of first half and resumed the second half much stronger creating more scoring chances.

Hearts increased the tally through veteran Mustapha Essuman whose drive from the edge of the box after picking a pass from Yeboah, deflected on the body of Cosmos Dauda before entering the net in the 53rd minute.

Man-of-the-Match, Mensah was on hand to connect Yeboah’s rebound deep in the Bechem United area to make it three for Hearts in the 67th minute.

John Nyamekye fetched a consolation for Bechem United in the 80th minute and made some attempts at reducing the tally further but failed.

Hearts have thus jumped to the top of the table with ten points and will travel to Tema to face Inter Allies in their next game.
