Atmospheric visibility to improve

Bad weatherAtmospheric visibility levels would significantly improve throughout the country this week, says the Ghana Meteorological Agency in Accra.

This improvement would be from 1,000 meters to 6,000 meters.

Mr Tetteh Portuphy, Senior Meteorologist at the Ghana Meteorological Agency, Kotoka International Airport, disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency in an interview on Monday.

He said unlike in the past weeks, there would be less dust particles in the atmosphere during the week, whilst the strong dusty winds would reduce immensely.

Mr Portuphy said there would be some cloud formation but noted, “We are not yet out of the harmattan”.

He said while a re-visit of harmattan weather conditions is currently possible, such a situation would not be very severe.

“Along the coast, the harmattan is expected to end next month, whilst the northern part of the country would be completely out of the harmattan during the ending of February or the beginning of March,” said the senior meteorologist.

He added that there could also be some isolated cases of rain over the coastal areas while the harmattan lasts.
