Omane Boamah commends Ghanaians for patience over dumsor

Dr Edward Omane Boamah, Minister of Communications at the weekend commended Ghanaians for being patient with government as it fixes the energy crises popularly referred to as ‘dumsor’.

He said the National Democratic Congress government remains focused on fixing the challenge and would not be knocked down by dispiriting comments.

Dr Omane Boamah was addressing the Volta Region edition of Government For the People Forum in Ho.

The forum was to introduce the “Accounting to the people” book, launched by President John Dramani Mahama recently to the people and also to interact with them.

Dr Omane Boamah said the Karpower is producing at full capacity with 220 megawatts of power and confident dumsor would soon be a thing of the past.

He described President Mahama’s performance in the past three years as “impressive” and called for support from the citizenry towards addressing challenges facing the country.

Dr Omane Boamah said the National Youth Employment Programme would next year engage about 120,000 young people in different modules to help reduce youth unemployment.

Dr Omane Boamah expressed dissatisfaction about the spread of falsehood about the government in the media and urged the public to “temper freedom of speech with decorum and discipline”.

Madam Helen Adjoa Ntoso, Regional Minister commended President Mahama for giving the region its “fair share of the national cake”.

Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, a Deputy Minister of Education said the quality of education in the region is improving and hinted of plans to equip Ho Polytechnic ahead of its conversion into a technical university.

During an open forum, people asked questions about road network in the region and complained about the bad nature of Ho Township roads and the poor quality of work being done on a few.
