Asamoah Gyan cleared of rape and sodomy charges

Kissi Adjarbeng, lawyer for Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan, has announced that his client has been cleared of any wrong doing by the Attorney General’s Department, after careful study of the docket.

In June 2015, Miss Sarah Kwablah lodged a rape and sodomy case against Asamoah Gyan, the captain of the Black Stars at the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service at the Ministries area in Accra.

Speaking at a press conference in Accra, Mr Adjarbeng said they have been informed by the Attorney General’s Department that the case of rape and unnatural canal knowledge made by Sarah Kwablah against Asamoah Gyan are totally baseless, and that, the docket should be closed.

“In plain language, Gyan has been cleared of all of Sarah Kwablah’s allegations of rape and sodomy.Ordinarily, we would not have bothered to address the media. However, lives are involved and reputations have been affected. Right must be put right and wrong must be put in its place.”  He said.

Mr Adjarbeng however noted that, his client has over the months suffered from ludicrous media tirade, whilst Gyan’s manager Mr. Samuel Anim Addo has also gotten his unfair share of verbal abuse.

“I have and I still do get my share of the vituperation. However, we regard that simply as occupational hazard”, he stated.
