NDC inaugurates Election 2016 youth working groups

NDCThe National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Thursday, inaugurated a 16-member Election 2016 Youth Working Groups and Committees (YWGC), in Accra.

The Groups and Committees have been formed to execute party projects, which have been capped under three thematic areas made up of: Operations, Research and Social Media (ORSM).

The NDC YWGC is mandated to strategise to attract more youth to support the party for the Election 2016; set the records straight about the party and on government issues; draw programmes and policies aimed at improving the welfare of the youth of the party.

Other responsibilities includes the formation of workable and suitable programmes aimed at achieving the operation 57 per cent and above for President John Dramani Mahama proposed by the NDC Youth Wing; and unit the rank and file of the party as well as ensure visibility of the party across the country.

Mr Kofi Adams, NDC National Organiser who inaugurated the YWGC acknowledged the critical role of the youth in party affairs, saying they must be given the opportunity to operate effectively on their own to ensure development.

He congratulated the various leaders for the groups and committees for their nomination based on their capacity and ability to serve in the supreme interest of Ghana; and challenged them to work hard through the sharing of credible information both to the leadership of the party and to Ghanaians.

Mr Sidii Abubakar Musah, NDC National Youth Organiser said the project was motivated by the party’s quest to explore legitimate tools of disseminating information on the unprecedented developmental exploits of the President John Dramani Mahama led administration.

He said the project would be replicated in the 10 regions of the country and even beyond, with the purpose of complementing the role and implementing the activities of the National Youth Wing of the NDC, and executing assignments by the National Youth Organisers.

He urged the groups and committees to actively honour their responsibility by feeding the youth leadership with credible, useful and fast-track information, for the effective operation of the party.

“This is why we expect each of us to be extremely committed to relaying information to the appropriate offices. This is not to say that we should overwhelm each other with irrelevant information,” he said.

The NDC National Youth Organiser said the “task is yours to strike the differences between what information is useful and what is not”.

“In so doing, you must keep in mind the unity and fortunes of the party and also the agenda of President Mahama to positively change lives and transform Ghana.”

He also called on Regional and Constituency Youth Organisers to replicate the project at their levels and make it operational within the shortest possible time.

Mr Johnson Asiedu Nkatiah, NDC General Secretary said the party believes in the youth as the core group, and must be encouraged to generate their own programmes for effective implementation.

He however cautioned that, “this core group could also become a danger, if not well managed, and urged the leadership of the party to support and encourage the various youth groups to be positively active to help the party secure victory”.
