Enterprise Life presents GTV reporter with IFEJ award

Enterprise Life Assurance has presented Mr Edward Nyarko, a Ghana Television (GTV) reporter with the prize package for the 2015 Institute of Financial and Economic Journalists (IFEJ) Best Journalist award in Financial Reporting.

The award gives him the opportunity to participate in this year’s Sanlam Summer School for Financial Journalists which is slated from November 15 to 20 in South Africa.

The $10,000 all expense package to the Summer School include hotel bills, accommodation, tuition, airfare and other expenses.

The Award ceremony which was co-sponsored by Enterprise Life Assurance and Sanlam was to serve as a bridge between journalists and the industry especially in the field of insurance.

Mr Lloyd Evans, President of IFEJ, reiterated the aim of IFEJ to help train financial journalists to operate skillfully to the development of the economy.

He expressed worry over the level of financial journalism in the country, describing it as not the best and called for the strengthening of journalism skills, partnership and professionalism.

Mr Cleland Coffie Bruce Junior, Executive Director of Enterprise Life, said the award scheme would help grow interest among reporters in insurance reporting and help tell good stories of Life Assurance.

He said Life Assurance is about solidarity and compensation, where pools are created through the contribution of policy holders who face certain specified life risks, and compensation is paid to them.

He disclosed that the company has launched its customer service charter to guide and direct their policy and behaviours, stressing that it is applicable companywide and covers all departments and branches.

Mr Nyarko, the award winner, expressed gratitude to the organizers of the ceremony for taking keen interest in the works of financial journalism and capacity building.

He assured that skills acquired during the Summer school will be shared back home to improve the economy and financial journalism.
