ArrestThe Agona Swedru Divisional Police Command on Monday re-arrested a 45-year-old self-styled Education Consultant at the Agona Swedru Circuit Court for allegedly producing fake West  Affricate Examination Council(WAEC) certificates to students to attend Universities.

Samuel Ceasar Tuwmson arrest followed unprofessional charges made against him and a lady name with held by the Winneba Police District Command in March.

Chief Superintendent of Police Ahmed Issah Yakubu, Agona Swedru Divisional Police Commander made this known in an encounter with journalists after the arrest of Twumson at Swedru.

The Divisional Commander who led the Divisional Patrol team to make the arrest said the suspect had duped more than 200 students.

Chief Supt Issah Yakubu said through these dubious acts many students might have completed universities with faked certificates since 2011.

He said these students were issued with faked WAEC certificates to enter both public and private universities in the country.

According to Chief Supt Issah Yakubu Police investigations have revealed University of Education (UEW) Wineba, University of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, University of Cape Coast, University of Development Studies and other private ones have been defrauded.

He said Twumson was able to collect GH¢6,000 and GH¢7,000 from the students and later managed to use protocol to gain them admission into the universities.

Chief Supt Issah Yakubu stated that the authorities UEW made a report about the activities of Twumson, who assisted a lady to gain admission to the university.

On March 28, the Winneba and Takoradi Kwesi Mintsim Police organised an operation and arrested Twumson and placed the suspect in custody in Winneba.

The Divisional Police Commander said the two suspects were charged with conspiracy to forge document which does not merit the substantive case.

He said the UEW authorities petitioned the Office of the Agona Swedru Divisional Commander to express displeasure about unprofessional handling of the case by the Winneba Criminal Investigation Department.

He said the Agona Swedru Divisional Police Command took over the case and learnt that charges made against Twumson were not good because court could easily strike out the case.

Chief Supt Issah Yakubu said investigations revealed that the suspect had an affair with her lady counterpart.

He said Twumson who was not happy about the end of the relationship sent a letter to the university authorities to sack the lady because she gained admission with faked WAEC certificate.

The Divisional Commander said the Lady confessed the crime during investigations.

He said the two suspects would be arraigned.
