WAEC withholds 6,812 BECE results

WAECThe West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has withheld the entire results of 6,812 candidates who sat for the June 2015 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

The number represented 0.015 per cent of the total 437,942 students, comprising 229,651 male and 208,291 female candidates who wrote the exams.

A statement by the Council and copied to the Ghana News Agency, (GNA) said the results had been withheld pending investigations into alleged examination malpractices and would be released as soon as the investigations were concluded.

The statement said provisional results of the remaining candidates had been released and would be dispatched to schools.

It said 1,886 students representing 0.004 per cent of the registered candidates were absent.

The total number of registered candidates was 3.55 per cent, higher than that of the previous year from a total of 13, 436 schools. The exams were administered at 1,546 centres.
