Private entrepreneurs encouraged to invest in health sector

Mr Justice Joe Appiah, the Member of Parliament for Ablekuma North, has urged the private sector to invest in the health sector,  to increase greater  accessibility of health care to  a large number of Ghanaians.

Mr. Appiah made the call during a sod-cutting ceremony to open the Royal Medical Agency Clinic (RMA), an ultra-modern private medical facility at Sakaman in Accra.

The facility will provide general Out-Patients Department (OPD) services, Ante-Natal and Post Natal, Laboratory, Family Planning, Specialized Diagnostic Services like Electro-Cardiograph (ECG) and Health Promotion.

Mr. Appiah said the people of Sakaman were very lucky to have got such a health facility in their midst, and asked them to report there for prompt medical attention whenever they noticed any kind of ill health,  instead of waiting to become seriously sick.

The Medical Director of the Clinic, Dr. Kwame Yeboah Kese, an Obstetrics and Gynecologist Specialist, said the Royal Medical Agency was established with a pool of doctors and nurses, to provide locum services to health facilities across the country upon request..

The first clinic for the agency, he said was established in Kumasi in 2009 and two more were being added there and in Accra with the ultimate aim of getting clinics in all the regional capitals.

The aim of the clinic, Dr. Kese said, was to provide quality and affordable health care to clients.

He advised the community to refrain from self-medication, take advantage of the facility, and report for regular medical check-ups even if they did not feel sick,  since it was more expensive to treat diseases than to prevent them.
