NPP Parliamentary Candidate defrauds financial institution

LawKaku Bonzoh, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Ellembelle, standing trial at an Accra Circuit Court for defrauding a financial institution of GH¢88,000, will make his next appearance at the court on Tuesday, August 18.

Bonzoh, also known as Francis Wilmot Bonzoh, an Administrator resident at Cantonments in Accra, issued two Unibank cheques for GH¢4,800 and GH¢64,800, and one Ecobank cheque for GH¢20,000.

He issued the three cheques to Tiger Force Microfinance Limited for the repayment of a loan he took from the company.

The cheques were to be drawn on January 13, February 14, and March 21 this year.

On those maturity dates, the Manager of Tiger Force Microfinance presented the cheques, and the banks dishonoured them,  because Bonzoh did not have sufficient money in his accounts.

On realizing that the NPP Parliamentary Candidate had given his company dud cheques, the Manager of the financial institution  reported the matter to the police, and he was arrested.

Bonzoh has pleaded not guilty to defrauding the company by false pretences.

The court has admitted him to bail in the sum of GH¢80,000, with three sureties to be justified
