NPP’s call for voter’s register clean-up is misplaced – NDC

NDCThe National Executive Committee of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has reacted to a call by the main opposition party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), for a clean-up of the voter’s register, describing the move as a “diversionary tactics”.

“So far as we are concerned, there is nothing wrong with the current register, and we believe the call for a clean-up is calculated to create confusion”, Mr. Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, a National Vice-Chairman of the NDC, insisted.

Addressing the opening session of a three-day capacity-building workshop for the Ashanti Regional NDC Youth Wing in Kumasi, he said the party found it baffling as the current register was done with the active participation of all the political parties, including the NPP.

“We have faith in the register and, therefore, see agitations to change it as misplaced”, he noted.

The workshop, targeting Youth Organizers and their Deputies in all the 47 Constituencies in the Region, was to keep the participants abreast of their responsibilities and roles as the NDC steps up campaign to retain power in the 2016 General Election.

“Empowering the Youth Wing for a Successful Implementation of Operation One Million Votes in Election 2016”, is the theme for the workshop.

Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo stressed the need for the party’s activists and supporters to work assiduously to achieve their target, saying that, securing one million votes was not beyond the party.

He advised the activists to remain united and resolute since the NDC had what it takes to improve on the socio-economic growth of the nation.

Mr. Ernest Brogya Genfi, the Regional Youth Organizer, entreated the participants to take the workshop seriously, as it was being organized to empower them for victory in next year’s elections.
