Only nine of the 64 junior doctors who were to be paid salaries for the past 11 months, received their salaries on Wednesday, July 29, against the promise made by Employment Minister, Mr Haruna Iddrisu.

Sources from the Ministry indicated that work on the payment schedule was still in progress for the rest to receive their pay by the close of Friday, July 31.

“Work is in progress for the rest of the doctors to be paid on by Friday July 31 as the Controller works on ways to resolve the issues, the source told GNA on Wednesday.

Dr Nana Kissi Atefah, leader of the group, told his colleagues to remain resolute and wait for a positive feedback.

Ninety-one doctors who have not been paid for 11 months picketed at the offices of the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department last Monday, to press home their grievances amidst heavy security presence.
