Japanese Government present’s Ebola prevention facilities to Ghana

Ebola2The Japanese Government has presented various medical equipment to the Ghana Health Service to help prevent the Ebola Virus from entering the country.

The items were presented at the opening ceremony of a training of trainers workshop for border personnel at Koforidua, sponsored by the Japanese Government.

The Kotoka International Airport and the Tema Harbour would receive the items, which include, disposable gloves, aprons, face mask, infra-red thermometers, hygiene kits and buckets.

Presenting the items, the Japanese Ambassador to Ghana, Mr Kaoru Yoshimura said the presentation forms part of the continuous support of Japan towards the Ebola preparedness of the country.

He said Japan had already presented non-contact hand held and walk through thermometers, laboratory equipment and reagents for diagnosing and confirmation of Ebola to the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research.

He called for the building of a strong resilient public health system that could timely and effectively respond to any emergency disease outbreak and disasters in future.
