Accra Hearts of Oak has being temporarily banned by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) from using the Accra Sports Stadium as its home venue with immediate effect.

The Phobians will play match day 23 against Heart of Lions on a neutral ground due to the ban.

The decision was taken due to the unfortunate incident when supporters of the club threw objects at the Match Officials during the Match day 21 game against Sekondi Hasaacas at the Accra Stadium on July 5 which resulted in an injury to assistant referee Badiu Issaka.

According to the GFA, the decision is in accordance with Article 15(2) of the GFA General Regulations which states that “the GFA may order the closure of any league centre where the safety of clubs, Match Officials or Spectators cannot be guaranteed”.

In view of this, the Premier League Board (PLB) will therefore determine the venue for the Club’s subsequent home matches in accordance with the provision of Article 15(3) of the GFA regulations.

The Disciplinary Committee has been charged to hear the case in accordance with the regulations of the association.
