Government to construct 15 new polyclinics – Mahama

The government is to construct 15 additional polyclinics in the country, President John Dramani Mahama, announced on Thursday.

He said 10 of the facilities would be constructed in Greater-Accra, while the other five would be sited in the Central Region.

President Mahama announced this when he addressed the chiefs and people of Wamfie, after inspecting the polyclinic in the area as part of his two-day working visit to the Brong-Ahafo Region.

He said work on the projects would soon begin, and assured the populace that the government would do all things possible to enable the citizens have easy access healthcare services.

President Mahama also disclosed that his government has earmarked $150 million for the construction of feeder roads in cocoa-growing communities, to enable cocoa farmers to easily transport their produce to marketing centres.

Nana Ansu Agyei, the Chief of Wamfie, commended the government for facilitating the development of the rapid development of the district, especially in the areas of health, roads and water.

He expressed concern about the lack of accommodation for police personnel in the area, and appealed to the government to also pro vide the polyclinic with an ambulance.

President Mahama, later inspected the Bomaa small town water project.
