Ghanaians told not to rely on politicians – Preacher

The Very Reverend Samuel Anyimah, the Superintendent Minister of the Bechem Circuit of the Methodist Church, Ghana, has bemoaned Ghanaians for over relying on politicians.

He said the way people always expect politicians to turn their fortunes around within the shortest possible time must be changed.

Very Rev Anyimah, who made the assertion in a sermon, said no individual, political party or government has the answers or solutions to the socio-economic challenges of the country.

He said it was sad people complained about unemployment, dwindling businesses, the protracted energy crisis and inefficient leadership, but they forget that no human could develop without the help of the Almighty God.

“We, as a people and a nation, must stop relying or pointing accusing fingers at people in authority and rather put all our trust in the Lord God Almighty who has all the power and ability to end our woes,” he said.

The Superintendent Minister, who is also in charge of the Bechem Ebenezer Methodist Church in an interaction with the Ghana News Agency said Ghanaians should soberly reflect on “where we are coming from and where we are going and who will take us there.”

He said: “Christ is the only sure hope for us, as individuals and as a nation. He is the only one who has power over life and death by His crucifixion and resurrection.

“We should therefore, trust Him, but not politicians, to lead us to the promise Land.”

Very Rev Anyimah commended some leaders of the Bechem Ebenezer Methodist Church for their dedicated services, namely Mr Benjamen Baiden, Madam Vida Aidoo and Mr Kwame Frimpong, church stewards and lay chairman respectively.
