NHIS Managers to sign Performance Contract

NHISNational Health Insurance Scheme (NHIA) Managers in the Central Region are to sign a performance contract agreement with the Regional Directorate of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA).

The move is principally designed to enhance operational activities of the scheme, and to achieve the set targets for the region, before the end of the 2015 operational period.

Mr Francis Oti Frempong, Central Regional Director of the NHIA announced this when he met with scheme managers, accountants, public relations officers, and information communications technology (ICT) system managers at Winneba.

He noted that the signing of the performance contract would benefit scheme mangers efforts at introducing more workable strategies to meet the objectives of their respective schemes.

Mr Frempong said the NHIA Directorate in the region together with the scheme managers and key core officers of the schemes; had already collectively adopted strategies to improve staffing levels, build capacity of staff, identify registration centres, and reach out to the communities.

He said the Regional Directorate has also intensified its monitoring and supervision on NHIA service providers and clients, to protect the policy against the misapplication and abuse of directives.

Quarterly review meetings, performance assessment system stakeholders engagements, shift systems, and pooling of mobile kits, are some of the strategies the Directorate had initiated, to address the challenges that could derail the forward march of the policy in the region.

Mr Frempong urged all NHIA workers in the region to take the policy as their own personal venture, and work harder for total success.

Meanwhile, management of the NHIA has commended workers of the Awutu Effutu Senya area branch of the NHIA, for their hard work, devotion to duty, and a high sense of commitment, towards the attainment of the objectives of the NHIA.

The Awutu Effutu Senya Scheme, which covers three political districts, and three traditional set-ups, has for the past four years maintained its enviable position as the best scheme in the Central Region in the various aspects of the NHIA operations.

In a citation, the Authority expressed its profound appreciation to the management and workers of the Awutu Effutu Senya (AESNHIA), for their splendid performance and advised them to sustain the tempo.

The Authority was hopeful that AESNHIA staff would aspire for a national best NHIA award this year, through greater commitment, devotion to duty and hard work.

Speaking to the press, the workers expressed their gratitude to the management for the honour done them, and pledged to work harder for greater reward in the coming years.
