Mr Kwasi Afram, the Berekum East Constituency Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), has appealed to Ghanaians to bear with the President, John Dramani Mahama, in his efforts to fix the energy crisis.

He said in spite of the numerous problems emanating from the “Dumsor” crisis, there was every indication that the President was not sleeping on the situation, hence the establishment of a Power Ministry, headed by Dr. Kwabena Donkor.

Mr Afram made the appeal in an interaction with the Ghana News Agency, at Berekum on Tuesday.

He said industries needed electricity to operate effectively and maintain its workforce to improve the socio-economic development of the state.

“Students need electricity to learn and we need electricity at home, as well as to brighten our neighbourhoods, to deter unscrupulous people who could take advantage of the situation to cause havoc.

Mr Afram said Ghanaians appreciate the enormity of the negative effects of the crisis, but that should not be used to play blame games, criticize and ridicule the leadership of the nation.

He said rather, Ghanaians should be patriotic and offer constructive support, spiritually and technically, in order to find lasting solutions to the situation, and make Ghana a better place.

The NDC Chairman described the power situation in his constituency as exceptionally normal, and expressed the hope that things would soon get better in all parts of the country.
