Dr Taleb Rifai, Head of United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) has called on potential tourists around the world to visit Ghana once in their life time.
A statement issued to the Ghana News Agency on Monday in Accra said the UNWTO Secretary General said was speaking as a guest at Ghana’s Independence Day Celebration in Berlin, Germany organized by Ghana Embassy in Germany.
Dr Rifai was full of praise for the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare and Ghana’s Ambassador in Germany Ms Akua Sena Dansua, saying the two were the best examples of what Ghana could produce.
“They are full of warmth, energy, love and dedication for their country,” he added.
He said it was a wonderful representation of what Ghana can give the world.
Dr Rifai said Ghana offered one of the most diverse tourist products, particularly its rich cultural traditions and customs and very rich eco-systems for every tourist.
He endorsed Ghana as one of the most preferred tourist destinations and said those who had not visited Ghana yet should do that, “for they don’t know what they are missing.”
The statement said Dr Rifai and his team from UNWTO had earlier visited Ghana’s stand at the just ended International Tourism Exhibition 2015 to hold discussions with Mrs. Ofosu-Adjare on UNWTO’s decision to choose Ghana to host the UNWTO’s conference on Re-branding the Image of Africa on the 17th-19th August, 2015.
