Government donates one thousand laptops to Western Region schools

LaptopMr. Paul Evans Aidoo, Western Regional Minister, on Tuesday presented one thousand pieces of laptop computers to the Regional Directorate of the Ghana Education Service (GES), for distribution to teachers in basic schools.

He also presented 10 projectors to the Regional GES for distribution to basic schools, at the ceremony which was attended by Mr. Alfred Ekow Gyan, Deputy Western Regional Minister.

Mr. David Afram, Regional Director of Education,  received the laptops and the projectors.

Mr. Aidoo said the laptops are to be distributed only to teachers to enhance teaching and learning in basic schools.

He said teachers can take the computers home for research purposes, and advised that they are used for the intended purpose.

Mr Aidoo said the region has so far received 3,255 laptops  and 110 projectors, for teachers and schools respectively.

Mr. Afram thanked government for the donation,  which he hoped would motivate teachers to give of their best.

He pointed out that computers are not meant to replace teachers in the classroom, but to assist them to deliver.

Teachers have to be punctual at work, prepare their notes,  give and mark homework, Mr. Afram said.
