Ghana becomes 25 in the world on FIFA ranking

Ghana has moved 12 places up in the latest Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) monthly ranking released on Thursday.

The Black Stars, silver medalist at the just ended Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Equatorial Guinea have leapt to 25 in the world.

Ghana is ranked third in Africa, behind the continental champions, Ivory Coast who beat Ghana 9-8 on penalties to claim their second historic trophy, both at the expense of the Black Stars.

Ghana amassed 864 points over the period to move from her previous ranking of 37 globally.

Despite going out of the tournament at the group phase, Algeria remains Africa’s best ranked side and 18th in the world.

Sitting at the apex of the world ranking is champions, Germany.
