Equatorial Guinea football fans shamed the continent after they attacked Ghanaian fans in the stands throwing objects at them.

Scared for their lives, the fans were forced to make it onto the pitch for safety during the second semi-final match between Ghana and Equatorial Guinea in Malabo, Thursday February 5, 2015.

Ghana was leading by 3-0 when in the 80th minute fans of the host nation started attacking Ghanaian fans with chairs and other objects.

The coach of Ghana, Avram Grant fearing for the safety of his players asked that the match should be stopped and for more than 40 minutes, the game was held up. Soldiers ran onto the pitch to push back the fans and to protect the players and officials.

No serious injuries to the fans have been reported.

At one point a military helicopter hovered over the pitch and some players cleared the pitch, removing objects that the fans have hurled onto it.

After the 40 minutes of hold up, the game was resumed and played for three minutes added time.
