Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam Assembly mobilises revenue
The Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam Assembly (AEEA) has mobilised 129,145.78 Ghana cedis as at November 30, 2014, out of a projected revenue of 151,582.75.
The amount represents 85.2 per cent of the estimated internally generated revenue.
Mr Peter Light Koomson, District Chief Executive, for the area made this known at the third ordinary meeting of the fourth session of the sixth Assembly on Friday.
Mr Koomson said that some of the revenue collectors received monthly salaries more than the revenue they collected and their continued stay on the district payroll was irrelevant and unjustifiable.
He said from next year only dedicated and committed personnel would be maintained as collectors.
He said the first quarter of this year’s District Assembly Common Fund amounting to GH¢205,006.86 was received about three weeks ago.
In addition the remaining 50 per cent of the 2011 District Development Fund (DDF) investment allocation of GH¢309,050.00 has also been received for the payment of contractors engaged in various DDF projects.
The Assembly deliberated on the approval of the 2015 fee-fixing resolution, annual composite budget and the annual action plan.
Mr Koomson said procured computers and their accessories would be distributed to the nine area councils after a capacity workshop for the staff had been done and appealed to the council members to look for suitable office accommodations or lands for offices and keep the Assembly informed.
The DCE stated that the National Sanitation Day in the area was not well patronized due to low awareness creation and other local activities such as funerals, weddings among others.
Mr Koomson appealed to the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development to choose either the second or third Saturday of each month for the laudable initiative to enable Ghanaians to actively participate in the sanitation exercise.
He said the government with the help of the Australian credit facility is to construct two polyclinics at Etsii Sunkwaa and Ajumako Bisease which would be executed by VAMED, an Australian engineering firm.
Mr Koomson commended the security services for the able manner they handled the annual Akwambo Festival of the area and urged them to continue with that effort during the Christmas and the New Year periods.
The new District Police Commander, Superintendent Prosper Mawuli Ahlija and the new Magistrate Mr Alfred Rockson Kpodo were officially introduced to the members of the Assembly.
Supt Ahlija assured members of their total support, protection and defence, but called on the citizenry to feed the police with information on the hideout of suspected criminals and drug peddlers.
