MTN says to roll out innovations

MTNMrs Georgina Asare Fiagbenu, Corporate Manager of MTN, has reiterated that her outfit would continue to drive on innovation and best practice in its telecommunication services, to ensure Ghanaians got satisfactory services.

Mrs Fiagbenu said the phenomenal growth in both data usage and increasing interest of people in the services,  was relevant to her outfit which she indicated, was evident in the local participation by communities in local applications rolled out onto the market.

She made these remarks at the Upper East Regional Editors Forum in Bolgatanga, where she urged journalists to take active role in national and regional MTN competitions,  as well as educate the local population to participate.

She said by doing that, jobs would also be created for the unemployed, and more opportunities opened for the development of communities.

Mrs Fiagbenu, who was in the region with her team of technical staff, Mr Steven Asare, Charles Osei Akoto, Corporate Commercial Representative,   Mr Samuel Gimah , Sales Manager,  said the visit was to find out about the services they provided , solicit views on services,  and get feedback to enable them improve on delivery.

Outlining the vision of MTN, the Corporate Manager indicated that innovation was relevant which MTN was not reneging on, in ensuring regular update of network performance, increasing corporate social interventions and customer empowerment.

She stated that MTN would continue with drive data in 2014,   adding that from November to December 5, her outfit was continuing with the roll out special activities, such as send money campaign,  and said MTN had piloted payment of mobile money in districts under the Livelihoods Empowerment Programme (LEAP), and hoped to do same with the NHIS.

Mr Charles Akoto, Technical Manager, stressed the vital role fiber played in the services of MTN, and stated that data presence was made possible in all the districts sites throughout the country.

He said the modernized equipment were replaced in 42 cell sites in the country, and that  Upper East Region benefitted from 81 kilometres, with an extrapolation of 4000 km of fiber network across the country.

He was, however, dismayed at the level of destruction of feeders due to fiber cuts, and urged the public to protect the facilities, in order not to have interrupted services.

Mr Steven Asare, Commercial Manager and Samuel Gyimah took turns to educate the media on various mobile services and other applications.
