Two suspects in custody for attempted robbery

DeportedThe Takoradi Police Command has remanded two young men into police custody for attempted robbery in Half Assini in the Jomoro District.

Francis Essilfie, 32, an employee of MENERGY, a private security company and Ishmael Boyang, 42, a security co-ordinator at Plantest Lodge, all in Takoradi, had in their possession four pistol hosters, two combat knives and combat boots.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency, Superintendent Edward Koyel, District Police Commander, said the Takoradi Airforce base had information about the two suspicious characters at the Airport Ridge.

The police acted swiftly and met the two young men at the MEA Catering Services around 2:15 pm on December 28.

Supt. Koyel said the police were surprised that though Essilfie was off duty that day, he was in his security uniform while his accomplice, Boyang, was also in the same uniform though he was not an employee of the security company.

According to the Police Commander, Essilfie had a wife at Half Assini where they intended to undertake the robbery adding that they would soon be arraigned before court.
