Teachers’ union supports needy students

PupilsThe Ejisu Catholic Teachers Corporative Credit Union has selected five brilliant but needy final year Junior High School (JHS) students for support.

They were chosen from Ejisu R/C, Ejisu Presbyterian, Ejisu M/A Experimental, Ejisu M/A Model and Krapah M/A JHS.

Mr. William Boakye-Baafi, Supervisory Committee Chairman of the Union, who announced this at a meeting with Catholic Bishop of Konongo-Mampong, the Most Reverend Joseph Osei Bonsu, said the Union was paying for their Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) registration and participation in four mock examinations.

He said as teachers they were particularly concerned about the academic progression of their students – eager to see them make it to the highest level.

He reminded parents of their responsibility to their children and said they should do everything to meet their basic school needs.

The Most Rev Osei Bonsu,  the President of the Ghana Catholic Bishop Conference, gave high marks to the teachers for the gesture.

He said he was confident that this would inspire the school children to work hard on their books.
