Takoradi Polytechnic wins three international awards
Professor George Oduro, Council Chairman of the Takoradi Polytechnic, has stressed that stability, commitment and unity of purpose, are the foundation for quality education delivery.
He noted that human institutions thrive largely on these core factors, and attributed the numerous feats the polytechnic had chalked, to the hard work of both administrative and managerial staff of the school.
The Professor was speaking at the last council meeting to mark the end of his four-year term of service and formal resignation as council chair of the Polytechnic.
Under his chairmanship, the polytechnic headed by Professor Reverend Daniel Nyarko, had won three international awards: the Oxford Summit of Leaders in the United Kingdom. It is classified by the university as best Regional University in Africa.
The rest are the European Society for Quality Research Award and Best Practices in Examination Award.
He claimed the school which had a perceived bad image some four years ago, had been able to achieve this through qualitative internal measures instituted by the council.
The Takoradi Polytechnic, he said, also introduced the two-time graduation programme to clear the backlog of students who for a long period were without certificates after completing their programmes.
Professor Oduro encouraged the polytechnic to continue to build as well as promote quality teaching and learning in the area of technical and vocational studies.
He further entreated them to let the awards motivate them for higher academic achievement, and called for the strengthening and resourcing of all the departments to enhance the skills of students to enable the school to achieve great feats.
