USAIDMr Emmanuel Agyapong -Duah, Nkoranza Municipal Assistant Director of Education  in charge of Schools Inspections, has commended the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), for launching an educational intervention programme that has brought improvement in the performance of basic schools in the Municipality.

The programme, Partnership for Accountable Governance in Education (PAGE), is supporting education in 46 districts nationwide, with the Nkoranza Municipal, Nkoranza North, Asutifi South and Jaman North Districts as the beneficiaries in the Brong-Ahafo Region.

It is being implemented by Care International and offers support to Circuit Supervisors to intensify schools inspection with the provision of six motorbikes for the Inspectorate Division of the Directorate in the Nkoranza Municipality.

Mr Agyapong–Duah made the commendation when he addressed Circuit Supervisors at their Annual Review Meeting at Nkoranza, during which they discussed their Action Plan for the rest of the 2013 /2014 academic year.

He noted that the PAGE programme had brought remarkable improvement in the results of the Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) over the past three years, adding “Nkoranza Municipal Education Directorate recorded 92 per cent this year as compared to 88 per cent last year”.

Mr Agyapong–Duah disclosed that activities under the USAID/PAGE programme would end in February next year, and there would not be more funding from the donor agency.
