Volta Region to ignite media-led development platform

media2The Volta Regional Co-ordinating Council (VRCC), is to ignite a media-led platform, to promote all-round development of the region.

The marketing-oriented programme would see the VRCC facilitating visits of journalists to the districts to do  event and process-centred stories.

Mr Francis Ganyaglo, Deputy Volta Regional Minister, stated this during a “night-out” with journalists in the  region in Ho at the weekend.

The yearly event is a brain-child of Mr Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ho-West.

Mr Ganyaglo said, besides wider geographical reach under the programme, arrangements would be made for periodic media encounters with Members of Parliament, and development partners, on the state of affairs in the various sectors.

He announced that the VRCC and the Municipal and District Assemblies had therefore purchased a 15-seater minibus to ferry reporters around the region.

Mr Ganyaglo said development projects were going on steadily,  and that four community Senior High Schools and three District Hospitals had been approved to be sited in different parts of the region.

Mr Bedzrah described the yearly informal media event as an “inter- marriage” he had been fostering; to engender discussion on important issues of the region, while cooling off.

He said there were no political connotations to the event, urging journalists in the region to follow their jobs with passion, and without fear or favour, with a promise to continue to support the event.

Mr Ludwig Hlodze, National Youth Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), suggested that the VRCC organized media briefings to keep the people abreast with developments in the region.

He said journalists should market the region’s potentials to bring investors into the region as against the rather lop-sided inclination for political news.
