Hotel BedroomA website to market hotels and project ‘breathtaking attractions’ of the Volta Region was launched on Thursday in Ho.

www.voltahotels.com is expected to bring about unprecedented growth in the hospitality and tourism industry in the Region with opportunity for traditional authorities to market their communities.

Mr Patrick Kpikpi, Chief Executive Officer of Media Systems and Technology, an online solutions provider who initiated the project, said the site presented an opportunity for “real time interactive tools” to facilitate reservations and bookings.

He said the site would be linked to Facebook and other social network platforms to expand its visibility using Facebook marketing resources.

He said his outfit was also working with the Ghana Hotels Association in the Region to build the capacity of its members to enhance service delivery.

Mr Kwame Gyasi, Volta Regional Manager of the Ghana Tourism Authority, welcomed the initiative and said it would re-position the tourism industry in the Region for rapid growth.

He said many people were investing in the sector in the region which he described as the future for the region’s socio-economic development.

Mr Gyasi said he was not happy about the relatively substandard service provided by some players in the industry, which has about 150 hotels and guest houses with several restaurants and chop bars.
