WR Police arrests three for robbing gold dealer

Ghana PoliceThe Western Regional Police Command has arrested three armed robbers for robbing a gold dealer at a galamsey site near Dominase in the Nzema-East Municipality of the Western Region.

The suspects are James Buah Baffoe, 22, Broruku Tsiame, 23 and Dzidzornya Dzafor,18 are currently in police custody assisting in investigations.

The Western Regional Crime Officer, Chief Superintendent James Kofi Abraham, told journalists at a press briefing at Sekondi, on Monday.

He said the victim, Anthony Buah, a gold dealer from Bamianko reported to the police on November 29 that he was attacked by robbers at Rubber Galamsey site near Dominase around 1630 hours the previous day.

The robbers robbed him of his seven pallets of raw gold, a gold weighing scale, a calculator, a Nokia mobile phone and cash sum of GHc2,000.00

The victim first reported the robbery to the leaders of the Rubber Galamsey Site and gave a vivid description of the robbers and the leaders in turn confronted the suspects who confirmed the robbery.

The incident was reported to the Dominase police and a search conducted on them retrieved GHc227.00 cash, four pallets of raw gold and some of the items stolen from the complainant.

They have been remanded into police custody and would soon be arraigned for prosecution.
