Court convicts student for theft

The Juaso Circuit Court, presided over by Mr Alex Obeng, has convicted an 18-year-old senior high school student over the theft of a cellular phone and cash of GH¢50.00.

This was after Cephas Boakye had pleaded guilty to charges of unlawful entry and stealing.

He was remanded into prison custody and ordered to be brought back on Thursday, November 28, for sentencing

Police Chief Inspector Joseph Obeng prosecuting, told the court that the crime was committed on August 10 this year.

He said Isaac Okra, the complainant, lived in the same Bompata community with Boakye and had travelled to Adansi only to find out on his return that his room had been broken into and his cellular phone and cash stolen.

The prosecution said Boakye on November 7, at about 1400 hours, attempted to once again steal from the room of the complainant but this time, he  was caught.

He was sent to the police station where he admitted the previous offence. The stolen phone was retrieved from him but the money had been spent.
