President John Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has been commended for taking a bold and excellent initiative in reducing the much criticised electricity tariff by 25 per cent to avert the strike action by organized labour groups in the country.

The move initiated by President Mahama, even though would cause the government a great deal, has really won the hearts of millions of Ghanaians, especially leaders of the labour groups, who rescinded their industrial action threat.

The commendation came from Mr Nii Ephraim, Municipal Chief Executive for Effutu, during an interview with the Ghana News Agency on the reduction in tariffs at Winneba, at the weekend.

He said President Mahama’s action has once again demonstrated clearly to the entire nation that he has the welfare of the people at heart and was determined more than ever to fulfill all the promises his government has made to the nation.

Nii Ephraim reminded Ghanaians that, as President Mahama always remarked in his public addresses, building a solid, peaceful, stable and progressive society should be considered always as a shared responsibility of every member of the Ghanaian society and not the government alone.

The people, he further advised should always consider contributing their individual and collective quota towards making Ghana a better place to live in.

The government, the MCE maintained, therefore require the cooperation, unity, hard work, commitment and total collaboration of the citizenry in order to attain the country’s quest for rapid and systematic socio-economic and cultural advancement, which would be beneficial to present and future generations.
