Effutu Assembly to prepare new development plan

market1Nii Ephraim, Effutu Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), has appealed to the Assembly members to sensitize the electorate to participate in the Street Naming Project and the Property Addressing Exercise to ensure its success.

Making the appeal at the Assembly’s meeting in Winneba,  Nii Ephraim said the Medium Term Development Plan developed in 2009 had ended and a new one needed to be developed for 2014-2017.

He said the plan required the active participation of Community and Zonal Councils and urged elected Assembly Members to form Zonal Task Teams consisting of not more than nine persons.

Nii Ephraim called for more women members in the teams to address concerns and interests of women.

The Assembly unanimously approved the 2014 budget of 7,234,816 Ghana cedis which covers improvement and provision of education, health, water and sanitation and rehabilitation of lorry parks.

He said the projects would be financed by the Common and District Development Funds, the Government of Ghana Grant and other donations.

He said 49 hand pump boreholes would be constructed in 10 communities within the Municipality and they aree Gyangyanadze, Veterinary Village, Atekyedo, Gyahadze, Low Cost extension, Sankor, Ansaful, Community Health School and Gyatekrom.

He said the siting of pumps and testing had already been done in the beneficiary communities, adding that the project was being sponsored by the International Development Agency (IDA) in collaboration with the Government of Ghana.
