District MoFA Directors meet over school feeding progromme

School FeedingThe Ghana School Feeding Programme ((GSFP) in collaboration with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) has organized a two-day Training of Trainers workshop for 30 District MOFA Directors/District Extension officers in Koforidua.

The Partnership for Child Development (PCP) supported the workshop to enable district level actors to enhance the capacity of Farmer Based Organizations (FBOs) to be able to produce for the School Feeding Programme.

The trained trainers are expected to conduct follow up training for selected FBOs in their districts after the workshop.

Ms Helen Adwoa Ntoso, the Eastern Regional Minister, in a speech read on her behalf, said the workshop would address a vital issue which was about linking the programme to local agriculture.

Ms Ntoso gave the assurance that the government would continue to give priority and support to the GSFP even in the face of budgetary constraints.

Mr Seidu Paakuna Adamu, National Co-ordinator, GSFP, said the Programme aimed at reducing poverty.

“We are using the feeding as a tool to reduce poverty but it is rather unfortunate that since the start of the Programme, the agriculture sector has been relegated to the background”.
