Ashaiman confirms MCE

Mr Ibrahim Baidoo was on Wednesday confirmed as the Ashaiman Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), after failing earlier to secure two-thirds of the total ballot cast last week.

Mr Baidoo received 17 votes of the total membership of 25, made up of 17 assembly members and 8 presidential appointees, thus securing 68 per cent, which is above the mandatory two thirds of votes needed.

The session on Wednesday, was held purposely to confirm the presidential nominee or otherwise, after his failure to secure the two-thirds votes in the first election.

He was declared confirmed by Mr Alexander Poku-Akubia, Greater Accra Director of the Electoral Commission.

In his acceptance speech, Mr Baidoo, who is a native of Ashaiman, thanked President John Mahama for nominating him and applauded the assembly members for the confidence reposed in him.

He stated his readiness to cooperate with management, staff and assembly members to fulfill the vision and mission of the Ashaiman Municipality.
