Police yet to arrest persons behind Bawku shooting

A week after the fatal shooting in Bawku, in the Upper East Region led to the death of two people, the police is yet to effect any arrest.

Chief Superintendant of Police Ebenezer Kweku Asare, Bawku Divisional Police Commander, told Ghana News Agency in an interview that investigations are underway and expressed the hope that the culprits would be arrested to face justice.

According to the police the incident which happened at Sagabo and Possum had no links to the protracted chieftaincy conflict in the area.

The deceased; Hasmin Yakubu, 28 and Osman Inusah, 55, were killed by two unknown armed men.

Mr Dambilla Issah, 68 and Tanko Haruna, 30 sustained injuries during the Sagabo attack and were treated and discharged at the Bawku Presbyterian Hospital.

Alhaji Limuna Mohammed-Muniru, Regional Minister and Chairman of the Regional Security Council, who visited the two communities after the incident called on the youth to remain calm and give peace a chance for the development of the area.

He called on Kusasis and Mamprusis who are engage in the chieftaincy conflict to patronise the legal channels such as the law courts as the surest way to seek justice.
