Government takes over Mozama School

PupilsThe government has taken over the School of Music and Cultural Studies of the Mozama Disco Christo Church (MDCC) at Gomoa Mozano and has converted it into a Day Senior High School with effect from the 2012/2013 academic year.

The school established by the Church many years ago to train its members in music and culture was handed over to the government due to financial difficulties.

Dr Joshua Alfred Amuah, Board Chairman of the School, made this known at its maiden meeting at Gomoa Mozano on Saturday.

This brings to two, the number of Senior High Schools in the area.

Dr Amuah, who is also a lecturer at the University of Ghana, School of Performing Arts, thanked the government for taking over the school.

He said the school under its new management has expanded its programmes to include Business, General Arts and Music.

Dr Amuah announced that the 13- Member Board of the school would be inaugurated in December 5, 2013.

Mr Thomas Coffie, Assistant Director, who represented the Director of the Gomoa West branch of the Ghana Education Service (GES) advised the MDCC to establish basic schools in their catchment areas to supplement government efforts.

Mr Kumi Ayitty, the first Acting headmaster of the school, who was introduced to the board, called for cooperation and hard work among the staff of the school.
