Police to inaugurate Command and Staff College

policeThe Ghana Police Administration will on 4th November, 2013 officially open its first Command and Staff College with the first batch of twenty personnel at Winneba.

Inspector General of Police Mohammed Ahmed Alhassan said this during a meeting with the Winneba Traditional Authorities led by Neeyni Ghartey, Paramount Chief of Effutu State and Officials of the Effutu Assembly also led by Nii Ephraim, the Municipal Chief Executive of the area.

Mr Alhassan said all is set for the take off of the College which will school senior and junior officers on more effective and efficient ways of policing, management and other disciplines.

He said the establishment of the College was long overdue adding that suggestions and contributions on the subject matter to put in place all the necessary structures and materials before it commences would be considered.

He said the current administration deems it fit to upgrade the Central Regional Police Training School in Winneba where structures and logistics are already in place to the status of the College.

Mr Alhassan said the Police Administration would have been on the wrong side if stakeholders of Effutu State whose land the police are using for their activities were not informed of the up-grading and commencement of the College hence the meeting with them.

He said since the world is now a global village there was the need for the Ghana Police to have its own Command and Staff College instead of officers traveling outside the country to acquire modern policing skills and knowledge.

Earlier, the IGP accompanied by top other officers of the Police interacted with authorities of University of Education Winneba which the College will be affiliated with, to undertake diploma and degree courses on policing activities.

Neeyni Ghartey VII expressed his appreciation to Government and the police Administration for the step taken to upgrade the training school to a College and added that they are proud since the vast land release to them was yielding good fruits.

Nii Ephraim for the area commended the police administration for the offer and added that the doors of the assembly are open to support them when the need arises.
