Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah says the Black Stars were tactically superior after thumbing Egypt  6-1  in the first leg of the 2014 World Cup play-off at the Baba Yara Stadium, Kumasi on Tuesday.

Ghana took a giant step towards a third successive World Cup appearance and Appiah believes the players put on a show that overwhelmed the seven times African champions.

He told GNA Sports in a post match interview that ‘Tactically the boys played well. We relied on counter attack because we notice their central defence and entire defence was not good and i knew if my players had a good day, there was no way Egypt could stop us”.

A draw in Cairo in the return leg on November 19 could garuntee qualification for the Balck Stars who recently have emerged Africa’s best performer at the Mundial.

Appiah who could become Ghana’s first local coach to lead the Black Stars to the World Cup said of the second leg in Cairo. ” We just have to pray there will be no injuries in the team when we travel to Cairo for the second leg next month so we can be Brazil”.

Egypt are hoping to end a 23-year wait for an appearance at the World Cup.
