Sokoban wood workers appeal for streetlights

Street LightWorkers at the Sokoban Wood Village have appealed to the Kumasi Metropolitan Authority (KMA) to fix the streetlights on the Kaase-BOST- Kuwait road.

The workers who raised the concern during an interaction with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said poor illumination at night had become a major source of security concern and needed to be tackled with some urgency.

They said armed gangs were taking advantage of the situation  to attack and rob them of their money and other valuables.

Maame Frema told that  they were forced to close early from business because of the surge in criminal activities on that stretch of the Anloga-Sokoban route.

Some drivers have even refused to ply it at certain times in the night for fear of being attacked.

Mr Godwin Ockumah Nyame, Public Relations Officer of the KMA, however, said the Assembly had already taken steps to replace defective street bulbs in the metropolis under an on-going project.

He appealed to the workers to remain calm, promising that the darkness would soon be over.
