Six new Municipal/District Chief Executives in the Upper West Region  have taken office after taking their oaths administered by Dr Ephraim Avea Nsor, the Regional Minister in Wa on Thursday.

Dr Nsor urged the new Chief Executives to create opportunities for sustainable jobs through modernisation and commercialisation of agriculture, improve access and quality of basic education, improve health care delivery and enhance governance and performance of state agencies.

He noted that assemblies in the region are characterised by poor supervision, inefficient performance of departments, scanty financial resources, lukewarm attitude to work, lateness, absenteeism and corruption and asked the new chief executives to address.

He advised them to see as their core duty monitoring and supervision and the overall development of their assemblies with the collaboration of assembly staff, decentralised departments and community leaders.

Mr Putiaha on behalf of his colleagues thanked the President for appointing them out of a large number of people who vied for the positions.

He assured the Regional Coordination Council that they would not operate on visions that would be isolated from that of the Regional Minister but would adequately consult relevant personalities and institutions to achieve the goals of their assemblies.
