Top emerging brands in Ghana awarded

BusinessesThe Centre for Brand Analysis Ghana (TCBAG), a market research agency, and an authoritative body in brand management, has identified 12 brand names in Ghana as having made great strides in their approach to business development and brand excellence.

The brands identified include Multi TV, Unique Floral, Access Bank, Buena Vista Homes, M&G Pharmaceuticals, Appointed Times Screen Printing, Lizzy Sports Complex, Beige Capital Savings & Loans, Wire Weaving Industries, La Palm Casino, Met Insurance and First Banc Financial Services.

A statement signed by Mr Eric Affaidu, chief executive officer (CEO) of TCBAG and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Monday, said extensive research conducted into their business operations in their categories showed that the companies were making it possible to transform and improve their brand presence in competition.

The award, it said,  was to encourage businesses to embrace the best practices as far as business branding was concerned and to also identify businesses and brands that were being managed well.

The statement said the award ceremony took place under the chairmanship of Mr Kenneth Ashigbey, Managing Director of Graphic Communications Group, at this year’s just ended leadership conference in Accra.

In his address, Mr Ashigbey challenged the media to recognise strategic and effective leadership as the best option to build their media brand.

Mr Soumya Saklani, Managing Director of MillwardBrown, Sub-Saharan Africa, took participants through series of teaching on how businesses could build premium associations with their brands and encouraged businesses to invest in marketing communication and business development to enable them connect customers emotionally to their brands.

Professor Pikay Richardson, who spoke on the topic: “Building any Credible Brand: The Role of Strategic Leadership”, maintained that Leadership involved change and was about “Challenging Expectations” which involved observation, interpretation and intervention.

Earlier in his welcoming speech, Mr Affaidu asked companies to remember to build credible brands rather than businesses so that their brands would last forever.
