Ten-man Edubiase succumbs to Kotoko

footballAsante Kotoko recorded their third straight win in the 2013/2014 Premier League with a dramatic 1-0 score-line over visiting New Edubiase at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Sunday.

The victory came the hard way as the Porcupine Warriors had to wait three minutes into injury to seal victory courtesy Kwabena Adusei, whose well-taken penalty beat goalkeeper Ben Mensah.

This was after Edubiase’s Christopher Agbashie, who was not under any pressure, handled the ball in the vital area.

Kotoko, spurred on by their recent successes, combined well on the flanks and came close to breaking the deadlock in the first half, but the chances that came their way in the 18th, 25th and 40 minutes were all squandered.

After recess, the visitors nearly stunned the homers as Fuseini Nuhu broke loose from his marker, intercepted an Asiedu Atobrah pass and let go a thunderbolt which was saved by goalkeeper Isaac Amoako.

Fuseini was red-carded in the 66th minute for a dangerous play on Kotoko’s Christopher Bonney, and this completely changed the face of the game with the Porcupine Warriors taking control of affairs.

As the game wore on, Agbashie, a pillar in the Edubiase defence handled the ball with some few minutes to end proceedings, giving Kotoko the opportunity to score.
