NHIA offers free health screening in Eastern Region

stethoscopeThe Eastern Regional Office of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) organized a free health screening for residents in Koforidua and its environs on Satrurday.

The exercise, which took place at the Koforidua Jackson Park, formed part of the activities marking the 10th anniversary of the NHIA in the region.

The health screening involved diabetes testing, blood pressure, eye testing, malaria and pregnancy testing among others and personnel from the St. Joseph Hospital collaborated with the regional NHIA to offer the free screening.

A blood donation point was also erected to receive blood from benevolent donors to boost the regional blood bank.

By 1000 hours, a crowd had thronged the Jackson Park to patronise the exercise before members of the NHIA staff, who went on a procession through some principal streets, arrived at the Park.

Mr Francis Oti, the Acting Regional Director of the NHIA, assured subscribers in the region of a better service, saying, his outfit had positioned itself well to satisfy their health insurance needs “from now and beyond.”

He urged all who had not yet registered with the scheme to do so and also called on those whose cards had expired to renew promptly.
