Labourer jailed seven years for defilement

A 52-year old labourer has been sentenced to seven years imprisonment in hard labour by the Juaso Circuit Court after a five-month trial for defilement.

Fatao Seidu was accused of defiling a 10-year girl at Juaso.

The mother of the victim left her shop in the care of the little daughter and travelled to Konongo, and the convict under the pretext of buying an item, sexually abuse the girl.

Police Inspector Manasseh Obimpe told the court presided over by Mr Alex Obeng Asante that a day after, the mother detected a change in her gaiety and could also not walk properly.

The anxious mother prodded her daughter to find out what had gone wrong, compelling her to narrate what happened to her.
