Gov’t must collaborate to regulate various sectors of economy – CIMG

The Institute of Chartered Marketing, Ghana (CIMG) awarded various organisations and individuals for their sterling marketing and management performance at the 24th marketing awards ceremony in Accra at the weekend.

The Awards was to promote and encourage best marketing practices that enable organisations to achieve their objectives to help towards nation-building.

The event was on the theme: “Reshaping Corporate and Public Engagement through the Power of Marketing.”

Mrs Shola Safo-Duodu, National Present of CIMG, said as a professional association, CIMG has been working effectively to ensure that their activities have positive effect on corporate Ghana and enhance the socio-economic lives of the citizenry.

She said in order to make their profession relevant to both practitioners and the country, the institute is developing a professional examination that takes cognisance of the marketing challenges in Africa, especially Ghana.

She noted that it is the institute’s plans to pursue the project of promoting the culture of developing industry and organisational reports to enable corporate Ghana plan more purposefully.

She said it is vital for government to collaborate with the various sectors of the economy in order to create a business and regulatory environment that supports the private sector and continuously attract investment for the strategic development of the country.

“Government can successfully leverage on those resources and the much larger pool of private capital, as well as an almost limitless supply of ideas and solutions,” she added.

Mrs Safo-Duodu said if government combines the right mix of public and private resources along with a commitment to smart and sustainable development, the results could be transformative.

The Awardees included: Marketing man of the year-2012- Professor Joshua Alabi, Vice Chancellor, University of Professional Studies, Accra; and  Marketing woman of the year-2012 –Ms Esther Cobbah, Chief Executive Officer, Stratcomm Africa

The rest were:  Marketing Student of the year-2012 – Mr Kofi Folson, Marketing Practitioner of the year-2012 – Mrs Agnes Essah, Marketing Director, Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited,   Motor Firm-2012 Toyota Ghana Company Limited, and  Retail Outlet of the year-2012- Melcom Group of Companies.

Other Awardees were:  Insurance Company of the year-2012- Vanguard Assurance Company,  ISP Company of the year-2012- Busy Internet, Not for Profit Organisation of the year-2012 (BUSAC FUND)-Business Sector Advocacy, Petroleum Company of the year-2012 –Total Ghana,   Outdoor Advert of the year-2012 –Fee beyond Three-MTN, Print Advert of the year-2012- So that their dreams may come true-Latex Form and TV Advert of the year-2012 – Tigo Cash-No Wahala.

Radio Advert of the year-2012 –SIC final journey, TV Programme of the year-2012 –Vodafone Health line, Radio Programme of the year-2012 –Drive Time, Joy Fm,  Bank of the year-2012 –GCB Bank,   Rural Bank of the year-2012 – Odotobri Rural Bank,   Media organisation of the year-2012 – Graphic  Communications,   Telecom Company of the year-2012 – Airtel Ghana and  Product of the year-2012 – camel-PZ.
