Ghana set for 2013-2014 Premier League

footballAsante Kotoko will begin defence of their league title against Aduana Stars at the Sunyani Coronation Park at the weekend.

The decision stems from a three-match home ban handed the Porcupine Warriors last season for crowd violence related issues during a match with Medeama at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Kotoko served two of the three-match home ban last season, hosting Aduana Stars and AshantiGold at the Coronation Park and Essipong Stadium respectively.

“Asante Kotoko’s title defence will start at the Coronation Park in Sunyani where they serve their last home match ban from the previous season.

“The Premier League Board confirmed decision on Monday as the champions will open the campaign on Sunday against Aduana Stars when the new season gets underway,” the Ghana Football Association said in a statement.

The Porcupine Warriors will however return to their favourite grounds for the Week 3 clash against Edubiase in a regional derby on Sunday, September 29.

Kotoko will be seeking to complete a hat-trick of league triumphs this term after the 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 season titles.
