The Local Government Service Secretariat (LGSS) under the Government of Ghana and the World Bank through the Local Government Capacity Support Project on Tuesday presented office equipments to the Regional Coordinating Councils (RCC’s).

The presentation of the equipment was to enhance the monitoring and evaluation of Metropolitan and Municipal Assemblies (MMAs) under a project to facilitate its operations in an efficient and effective manner.

The items included Desktop Computer, B/W Printer, UPS, Scanner, Photocopier, Air conditioner, Executive chair, Office table, Office cabinet, Table top fridge and Visitors chairs.

Dr Callistus Mahama, Head of LGSS, who presented the items, said the gesture was also to build the capacities of all the 46 MMAs for utmost performance.

Dr Mahama said their outfits had noticed that the district assemblies are faced with logistics, and that, the supply of the equipment would address some of their problems and urged them to handle the equipment safely.

He noted that the RCC would also be given an amount of money to aid their operations, and as a way to justify their performance, each RCC is expected to submit a detailed work plan to the LGSS, including financial statement for review.

Mr Benjamin Addo, Regional Planning Officer of Greater Accra RCC, expressed appreciation for the presentation and promised that their outfits would make good use of the equipments, and also ensure its maintenance.
