Ghana Meteo denies knowledge of contract with African Automobile
Group Capt Stephen Komla (Rtd), the interim Director General of the Meteorological Service Agency, has denied knowledge of a contract between the agency and the African Automobile Limited.
Appearing before the Judgement Commission on Monday to answer questions over the procurement of three vehicles from the African Automobile limited in 1995 which included repairs and servicing, Capt Komla said the agency did not enter into any contract with the African Automobile for the procurement of those vehicles.
He said it was rather the then Ministry of Transport and Communication that entered into contract with the African Automobile and procured the vehicles for the agency.
“My lord, our search at the agency revealed that there was no contract between us and the African Automobile Limited to supply us with vehicles and there is no correspondence between us”, he said.
Mr Justice Yaw Appau, Sole Commissioner of Judgement Debt, has therefore ordered the appearance of the officials of Ministry of Transport and Communication to provide details of the contract.
Officials of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning and the Ministry of Food and Agriculture were to appear before the Commission but they requested an adjournment and the Commission asked them to appear on September 24 and 25 respectively to answer questions over cars delivered by the African Automobile Limited.
Officials of the Ministry of Environment Science and Technology were to appear before the Commission but they did not come and there was no reason given for their inability to appear.
`The Commission has asked for a new date for them to appear.
